Philippine media network ABS-CBN was issued a cease and desist order on May 5, 2020, a day after its 25-year legislative franchise expired. The cease and desist order says that all its TV and radio stations were forced to go off-air immediately.

Franchise denial[edit | edit source]

On July 10, 2020, the franchise renewal was denied by the House Speakers, with 70 votes to 11, meaning 70 said "yes" to the resolution denying the renewal, or the franchise would not be renewed, while 11 said "no" to the resolution denying the renewal, or the franchise would be renewed. It cites several issues.[3][4]
